The painted side is more approachable in a traditional sense, except for the inescapable voids in the face, so curiously placed across the mouth, eye, and ear. And this void (actually just the surface of the glass) has a represented effect on the flesh in the form of a shadow. When viewed from the other side, the glass serves as
